Movie Spoof Series
Milwaukee Brewers
Creating engaging content for each platform starts with understanding each unique audience and how they consume content differently across channels, whether that is unique platform formatting, algorithm nuances, or content expectations specific to that channel. The first step is identifying what your followers want from your brand, so you can authentically deliver content that builds deeper connections with them. From there, I rely on instincts and analytics to optimize posts for each platform to ensure they resonate with the audience while aligning with platform algorithms rather than working against them.
Giving followers what they want while supporting the needs of the business is at the core of any social media professional’s role. The Brewers Movie Spoof Series is an example of content that successfully blends those objectives in a way that is platform-native as opposed to a one-size-fits-all approach that sacrifices platform authenticity.
The goal of the series that included viral send ups of The Sandlot, Mean Girls, Back To The Future, and more was to humanize our players by turning them into likeable people that play in the eyes of fans as that would build deeper emotional connections with existing followers and reach potential fans in a new way. For many fans, a player is often only as likeable as yesterday's good or bad performance while those same fans will support a person they like through thick and thin. The Sandlot was the most successful in the series, garnering over 5 million views and 150 thousand engagements in the first 24 hours. Coordinating these efforts with teams across the organization was always a challenge but ultimately resulted in truly viral moments viewed by millions.
